Do bugs and animals have souls?

There is no such thing as a soul. Humans ARE animals. They all have feelings of some kind, they all have a sensation of pain, whether they acknowledge it in the same way as the great apes, we will probably never know. If an animal reacts to a stimulus that is potentially life threatening, then yes, they feel it.
